• PowerPoint presentation with slides revealing new information or clues about the murder

• Deduction sheet for each student to record their deductions

• Answer key with the correct solution to the mystery

Gameplay:

1. Begin the PowerPoint presentation and explain the objective of the game to the students.

2. Each slide of the presentation will reveal new information or clues related to the murder of Susan White.

3. After each slide is revealed, students have a moment to discuss the new information and make deductions using modal verbs of deduction.

4. Students record their deductions on their deduction sheets.

5. Continue revealing slides one by one, with each slide providing additional clues or information.

6. Encourage students to revise their deductions as new information is revealed.

7. Once all slides have been shown, students have the opportunity to make their final deductions about who they believe the murderer is and what the motive might be.

8. After students have made their final deductions, reveal the correct solution to the mystery using the answer key.

9. Compare students' deductions to the correct solution to determine if they correctly solved the mystery.

Example of gameplay:

Slide 1: "Susan White was found dead in her living room."

Students' deductions: She must have been killed at home. It could have been someone she knew. It might have been a planned murder.

Slide 2: "There were signs of forced entry into the house."

Students' deductions: The murderer might not have been invited. They could have broken in to avoid suspicion.
